Our Spirituality

The Johanniter Order is a spiritual knightly Order with its foundation on Jesus Christ. Without this spiritual dimension, the Order would have faded away in the course of history. These pages offer devotional resources to help you meditate on the foundations of Christian faith.

The Beatitudes

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who are hungry
and thirsty,
for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called sons of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted
for righteousness’s sake,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

The Prayer of the Order

Bless, oh bless my Lord, this Order!
In your honor does it wish to serve.
By your grace be its protector,
and help it in salvation’s fight.
Fortify our faith in the Savior
who brought the Cross to glory.
Defend against evil, advance what is good.
Assist the weak to keep their faith.
Help the weak! — Hear us, O Lord!
